I am choosing the third painting:The New Mayor (1900)

This painting captures some of the most special moments of our lives—or, one might say, a single tranquil and intimate instant that seems to have stood still in time. It depicts a wealthy protagonist and his wife seated together on a simple wooden bench, nestled amidst the coastal sand dunes of India.

It captures that fleeting moment at sunset when the sky and the sea dissolve into one another, blending in various shades of blue. The lighting is remarkably gentle—not harsh, but rather soft and ethereal—shimmering as it catches the white dress of the heroine and the crests of the waves. A red scarf plays an even more striking role in the composition, portraying the woman as a figure of immense grace and elegance.

A moment of profound intimacy unfolds here, imbued with a palpable sense of shared silence between the two. Neither character looks into the other's eyes to perceive their love; instead, they seem to be gazing together toward the horizon, finding the true essence of their affection in that shared vista.

They are entirely alone in this setting; this unique blend of solitude and serene atmosphere reflects the painter's own inner tranquility.

The protagonist's posture exudes an air of effortless nonchalance and youthful abandon, revealing his determination to spare no effort in impressing his beloved.
