The concept of space energy collection and distribution seems almost other-worldly, yet could certainly bring about major changes to the capabilities of satellites through reduced weight and size as well as increased efficiency. An exciting aspect of the space-based power system is its ability to utilize current technology of solar panel collection without having to drastically change them. If the Star Catcher project is successful with regard to technical feasibility of recharging using lasers; there will be overwhelming potential for future use cases including orbital data centers, lunar exploration missions, and new forms of infrastructure in the universe.
