It is a fact that war has always been one of the biggest drivers of technological evolution, but now it could be about to take a leap that completely changes the battlefield, for the first time, humanoid robots began to be tested directly on the front lines of the war between Ukraine and Russia, they are real machines used for reconnaissance missions in an active combat environment.

The Phantom MK1 models, developed by the American startup Foundation, were delivered to Ukraine in February with a clear objective, to test how these robberies behave in real war situations. Ukraine, in fact, has already become a true testing ground for emerging military technologies. In January alone, thousands of operations with robots were recorded, mainly in logistical tasks such as delivery of ammunition, weapons and supplies to the front line.

But the Phantom MK1 represents a new level because it is not simply another robot, it was designed to replace the human soldier himself. According to the company, the goal is that in the future these robots will be capable of operating any type of so far away The rationale behind this is straightforward, to reduce the risk to human soldiers and dangerous missions, but this idea raises an inevitable question, if machines start to occupy the battlefield, who will really be making the decisions?

And the advance is not only happening on one side, both Ukraine and Russia already humanoids. In some cases, these systems have already been seen operating weapons and even forcing surrenders in combat, that is, what previously seemed distant is already happening and perhaps the most disturbing thing is to realize that this technology is not being developed for a hypothetical future, it is being tested now in real time and a scenario where errors are not just failures, but real consequences.
