The rover for weekend hikes

Sentigent Technology presented a concept that shows the use of recreational technology, an explorer robot designed to accompany humans on outdoor adventures, the Rover X3 is not a humanoid, it is not industrial and it does not promise to replace anyone.

It is 45 cm high and was designed as a robotic Sherpa capable of carrying equipment, climbing steep stairs and crossing rugged terrain while accompanying its owner's every step. The service it offers is simple, making days easier with the help of a machine.

The rover can carry backpacks on weekend hikes, automatically follow its user, and even go into patrol mode, monitoring the campsite for small intruders such as forest animals. The company also suggests more daring uses, such as sending it to the playground as a kind of robotic babysitter, but that's where the line between usefulness and recklessness begins to blur.

With a battery life of about 6 hours, X3 is far from being an epic explorer. What it really represents is something else: an attempt to integrate robotics into everyday recreation. It could be the first Duo Rover companion robot for outdoor use, a category that practically did not exist until now.

And if machines are already coming to be by our side, they need to be safer, right?
