Kandy Esala Perahera (Dalada Perahera)

Sri Lanka’s oldest and most majestic Buddhist festival, the Esala Perahera in Kandy features musicians, dancers, fire-breathers, jugglers, acrobats, a number of caparisoned Tuskers and the splendid part is its extravagantly festooned elephants. Decorated from toe to trunk, the main elephant brings a huge canopy that housing, a replica of the cask inclosing the Sacred Tooth Relic of the Lord Buddha.
