The Talinum fruticosum is a herbaceous perennial plant belonging to the family of Talinaceae. It’s native to Mexico, the Caribbean, West Africa, Central America & much of South America. The common names include Ceylon spinach, waterleaf, cariru, Surinam purslane, Philippine spinach, Gbure, Florida spinach, potherb fameflower etc.
Waterleaf is a good source of vitamins A and C, which are both essential for boosting immunity. Its leaves & young shoots are edible, often used in salads, soups, and stews. Additionally, it's believed to have various medicinal properties, including antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects, and is used to treat conditions like burns & sores.
