Hello friends of the DraftCrearte Community and welcome to Crearte-Kids. Continuing with our Project with its modality of weekly workshops, where you can participate by making your publications from the explanation of each technique taught in these workshops.
Our second workshop is the "Masked"
The masking technique is a painting format in which spaces are delimited within the surface to be painted, through the use of tapes. This allows creating designs of different complexity and giving a unique touch to each decorative object.

Did you know?
Masking tape was invented in 1925 by 3M employee Richard Gurley Drew.
This technique is very simple and can be used to decorate walls, furniture, MDF chests and even flower pots.Materiales:
- Paints of different colors.
- White cardboard
- Brushes.
- Scotch tape
- Material to protect the work table (recycled paper or plastic tablecloth)
Step 1.
- Protect the work area with recycled paper or tablecloth. Then we will put all the materials in order on the table.
Step 2.
- Center the card stock on the work area.
Step 3.
- Place the adhesive tape around all the cardboard, to leave space for a frame to our work.
Step 4.
- Next, the tapes are placed in the desired position, to delimit the areas to be painted. This is very similar to when we use the stencil.
Step 5.
- Then we paint with the color of our preference, each area delimited by the tape, avoiding painting over the other area, so that the colors do not bind.
Step 6.
- Here we let it dry very well.
Step 7.
- Remove the masking tape very carefully.

- Create a card with the masking technique, with the colors that you like the most.
- Explain in your own words what you learned from the art of masking.
