About My Favourite Snacks?

Pan Cakes are one of the unique and exquisite Sri Lankan snack. I love it because although it's just a snack it has a great nutritional value as well as the incredible taste. This snack is a combination of Atta flour, coconut and jaggery. This is easy to make and anyone can enjoy it without no side effects. The specialty, it's a healthy snack but not a fast food.

Ingredients Used to Prepare Pan Cakes

Now we will move on to the recipe. We usually make pan cakes for evening time and blew is the recipe that gives you perfect pan cakes.

Ingredients

For The Pan Cake Mixture

Atta Flour 1 1/2 cup
Coconut milk 1 cup
Egg 1
Salt 1tsp
Turmeric powder 1/2tsp

For The Filling

Scrapped coconut 1 1/2cups
Jaggery 1/2 cup (You can also use sugar instead of jaggery)
Salt 1tsp
Cardamom 3
Cinnamon 1stick
Clove 5
Water 4tbsp

Method

The Filling

First heat the pan

Next add 1/4 cup of jaggery and let it be caramel.

Then add 2tbsp water and remaining jaggery and salt. Then stir well.

After that add the grinded cardamom, clove and cinnamon. Then mix well.

Once jaggery is melted and the syrup starts boiling add the scrapped coconut and mix well.

Now the filling is ready.

Pan Cake Mixture

Put all the ingredients of pan cake mixture into the blender jar and mix them well.

Make sure that it is a little thick mixture that you can pour with a spoon.

Now let's prepare the pan cakes.

First heat the pan

Next add a little amount of olive oil and spread it all over the pan.

Then get a spoon full of pan cake mixture and pour it into the pan and spread it through the pan.

Let the pan cake be prepared in the pan cake in low heat up to 3mins.

Then you can remove it from the pan and place it in a plate.

Now we can start wrapping the pan cakes.

Please note that as soon as you remove the pan cake from the pan you have to get it wrapped.

Place the filling on the pan cake and gently roll it as I have shown in the photo.

Now the delicious pan cakes are ready. It's the time to taste it.....

Yummy.... I invite all of you to try this at home this is supper easy to make.

In Sri Lanka you can get pan cakes from any restaurant and it costs around STEEM 0.86 (LKR 60)

Are Pan Cakes Famous Only In Our Country? Or It Is Found Worldwide?

Pan cakes are famous all over the world. Each country has it's unique version of pan cakes and this is the Sri Lankan version. I have tried the others as well but I love the authentic Sri Lankan taste of the pan cakes.

Wow this is great, I’ve not seen pancakes made this way I’d be delighted to make one myself but I’m not sure I can get these ingredients in my county Cameroon, are there any substitutes to the cardamom? And can I do it without it?

Cardamom is used to add flavour and a nice odour to the filling but instead you can add some vanilla 😁
