Jewel Beetle

Hello my dear Steemians!.

This time my discovery was a little strange, I see three beetles that were metallic green like jewels and their bodies were overlapping each other like insects that had intercourse. I tried to approach him and prepare a smartphone camera without a lensbong because this incident happened suddenly when I was walking along the path in the rice fields and I didn't aim to look for pictures of insects.

I'm a little surprised because there are also those who call this insects as wood beetles, even though the glossy colors are very interesting to look at. Maybe because there are several species that have the potential as destructive pests, because these insects have the largest family in the beetle kingdom. It is easy to identify the jewel beetle because it has a distinctive body shape. This beetle has a cylindrical and oval body shape that is elongated, but tapers at the rear end into a single point. This beetle also has a hard and somewhat flat body with serrated antennae.

I'm still curious about this beetle because it hasn't been able to take pictures from all angles well and in good focus. I haven't been able to take a good picture from the front, this beetle is very active and will fly quickly when it feels threatened. I will look forward to his return and hope to conquer him one day. I've found this beetle several times but it always escapes my target. It is a jewel beetle and tends to be active on sunny days, especially on hot days. I noticed the jewel beetle can fly quickly when threatened, making it difficult to catch.

When I got close to the beetle, suddenly the beetle that was in the top position flew away, so I just took a picture of two beetles overlapping each other or having sex. Usually when insects are having intercourse, the back end of the body will stick together and be sticky and very difficult to come off and hold on for a long time. So it is very different from gem beetles, once the situation feels threatened, their bodies can be released easily. Likewise what I experienced at that time, I could only take pictures of a few angles and the green beetle flew.
