The Most Beautiful Jiangnan Garden in Beijing

in CCS3 days ago

“Fair is Jiangnan, a land forever familiar.
At sunrise, river blossoms glow red as flame;
In spring, the waters turn emerald blue—
How could one not long for Jiangnan?”
With these timeless lines from Reminiscing about Jiangnan, Tang poet Bai Juyi instantly draws us into the earthly paradise so many dream of.

The Yi Jiangnan Scenic Area is located within Beijing’s Garden Expo Park and is the largest regional garden there, rich with the rustic charm of southern China. Modeled on classical Jiangnan gardens, it brings together iconic elements from UNESCO World Heritage sites such as the Yilan Pavilion of Nanjing’s Zhan Garden and the Yifeng Pavilion of Suzhou’s Lingering Garden, faithfully recreating the essence and aesthetics of these celebrated landscapes.

Yi Jiangnan represents the Jiangsu Garden. The entire area is dedicated to showcasing classical Jiangnan garden design, with a particular emphasis on the refined elegance of private gardens. It is a composite landscape inspired by Suzhou’s classical gardens and the gardens of Jinling, capturing the poetic soul of Jiangnan in the heart of Beijing.
