Dream white Punjabi, but limited in affordability

Eid means joy to me, and that joy should be fulfilled in new Punjabis. Since childhood, I have had a special excitement in me to buy new clothes before Eid. So even today, maintaining that old habit, I went out to the local market for Eid shopping. When I went to the market, I saw a bustling atmosphere all around. Every shop was decorated with new Punjabis. Some with dazzling designs, some with simple and elegant ones. Crowds of people, the calls of shopkeepers. All in all, it was as if the Eid atmosphere had spread in advance.

In the midst of this crowd, I caught sight of a white Punjabi. I liked it at first sight. Not too flashy, but not at all ordinary. It had a beautiful, modest beauty. I took the Punjabi in my hand and looked at it carefully, imagining how it would look later. It seemed that this was perfect for the day of Eid. But when I asked for the price, I immediately stopped. The price was more than I could afford. I stood there in silence for a while, hesitating whether to take it or not. Finally, I had to give in to reality. I put the Punjabi back in its original place and slowly walked out of the shop.

Even in the crowd of the market, I felt a little alone. It seemed that the joy of Eid had diminished a little. However, after walking a little, I thought that the real joy of Eid was not just in the new Punjabi, but in spending time with loved ones, laughing and being happy together.

Still, in a corner of my mind, I felt a little regret for that white Punjabi. Maybe one day, if I could afford it, I would buy that Punjabi of my choice.
