Artists residences, Penzance
I finally made it down to the Isles of Scilly. A place I’ve wanted to go for a few years now. You leave from Penzance harbour in Cornwall and the ferry leaves at 9 am so you have to stay the night before really near the harbour.
We stayed in this beautiful hotel called the artists residents. They are a small chain of hotels owned by Justin and Charlotte Salisbury. In 2008 Justin's mother was involved in a traffic accident, so Justin dropped out of his degree in accountancy to take over the running of her Brighton seafront guesthouse. He had no experience in the hospitality industry, but he could tell the place needed a serious makeover. He put an as in a local paper inviting artists to come and help decorate in exchange for board.
Once Charlotte had completed her History of Art degree, she then joined Justin, and four more hotels followed.
I really enjoyed staying here it was very cute and homely. I also had one the nicest cocktails I’ve ever
tried a bergamot and Prosecco spritz.
