Philadelphia Eagles vs. Seattle Seahawks - Crowd-source prediction effort

in Delaware Valley Life5 years ago (edited)

Sunday, January 5, at 4:40 pm (US/Eastern) the Philadelphia Eagles play the Seattle Seahawks for a first round NFL playoff game in Philadelphia. According to the ESPN web site at the time of this writing, the Seahawks are favored by 1.5 points, and the over/under is at 45.0 or 45.5 points, depending on the odds-maker.

Here's a chance for Steem to predict the outcome.

I'll add 6 comments to this post. Please vote for 0 through 3 of them before game time in order to see how Steem does at predicting the outcome. I'll set the comment beneficiaries to @null so that the only rewards going out from the comments will be curation rewards.

I'll vote 100% with my accounts on the correct three answers after the results are known. It's only a few cents, but at least it will deliver a few rewards .

The comments will be:

  1. Eagles win outright
  2. Seahawks win outright
  3. Eagles win with 1.5 points added
  4. Seahawks win by more than 1.5
  5. Total score (Eagles + Seahawks) lower than 45.5
  6. Total score (Eagles + Seahawks) higher than 45.5

Please vote for no more than one from each pair (1/2), (3/4), and (5/6).

Side note: According to the West Chester Patch, West Chester University's Incomparable Golden Rams Marching Band will be playing during the half-time show.

You may recall that this year's West Chester marching band was ranked #1 in the nation.

Here is a video of this year's field show:

And, from a couple years ago, here is the Philadelphia Orchestra playing "Fly Eagles Fly!":

Anyway, on to the predictions. Feel free to add your own comments explaining your votes.

Edited to add: Thinking this through, when the results are known, I will probably also down-vote the incorrect answers at 100% in order to reduce curation rewards on the incorrect possibilities.

Update after the game: Jan. 5, 2020 @ 19:43: I have up-voted the only correct answer that had any guesses. Due to low participation, I'm not going to upvote the unvoted correct answers or down-vote the incorrect answers.

Final results were:

  • The Seahawks won outright (0 votes)
  • The Seahawks won by more than 1.5 (0 votes)
  • The total score (Eagles + Seahawks) was less than 45.5 (0 votes)
And I added a bonus question:
  • Carson Wentz missed more than 1 quarter due to injury. (2 votes, this is the only question that was predicted correctly.)

With just over 3 hours remaining until game time, the leading predictions are that the Eagles will win the game outright and with 1.5 points, the over/under is over 45.5 points, and Carson Wentz misses at least one quarter due to injury.

If there are any new votes between now and 4:40, I'll archive another copy of the voting at game time.

As with the others, this comment is set to 100% null beneficiary rewards.

Update: No new votes at the time of the kickoff, so this image displays the final prediction of the voters.
