So we have this great budget movie with Bradley Cooper, Willem Dafoe, Cate Blanchett, and Ron Perlman in it and what we are just counting a few stars, there are a few other good actors and actresses in this movie as well. It, on paper, sounds like it could be an amazing film and in some parts of it. Unfortunately, it moves at snail speed and eventually took me 4 times to do it every 2 hours on screen.

In order to avoid spoilers, especially the few twists that occur in the end, I will be deliberately not specifying what happens in the story. I will say this though: It starts with the stupid Stan Carlisle (Cooper) who is looking for a job that falls into the carnival, and starts working as a freelance wherever he is needed but because of his passion. various actions at festivals, you soon find yourself performing a very important part of the work and the owners and conductors are very interested in teaching him more skills.

Once upon a time, the inevitable love story that seems to be a necessity for many Cooper films is not just a side show and is actually a very important and necessary part of the story so we will not blame too long on this but we have to blame for something and for me this "something" is the fact that almost -50% of this movie could be completed and the same story could be told. I do not understand how in 2021 a director can release a movie over 2 hours in length knowing what we know about the attention period of the average person these days.

Although the parts of the film were very interesting and I can't identify any particular character and say they were not good role players, they end up spending a lot of time on character development especially when the said characters end up not having them. the role of any great significance in the story. This is probably most remarkable about Willem Dafoe's character "Clem."

I have no proof of this, but I feel that this has a lot to do with Dafoe's star power and his ego and the director is afraid to reduce his lines and screen time though in the end, his character is a trivial matter related to the whole story. In fact, they could have completely destroyed his character, and nothing could change that.

Should i watch it?

I think if you have a lot of patience the twists and especially the ending is great but I don’t know if this ensures staying in what I consider an hour of unnecessary filling to get to it. I think the only reason why studios allow this is because it seems that director Guillermo del Toro can't make a mistake and he has an Oscar to prove it. However, this did not make sense to viewers as the film ended up losing more than $ 20 million in the box office and since there is no such thing as DVD sales, that is probably the end of the financial line so far. she is worried.

I think if you have a ton of patience you might enjoy this film, but to me it is very artistic and waaaaay too long to enjoy.
