The epic Murchison Falls National Park

I would like to tell you about Murchison falls national park.

This park is situated in the north-western part of Uganda at the end of the Albertine Rift Valley. It is known as Kabelenga national park locally and offers an ecstatic scenery of carpeted grasslands, swamps that glide into the river which stretches for kilometres with vegetation side by side and riverine woodlands. It is the largest park in Uganda and blessed with a roaring waterfall that gushes its powerful water into Victoria Nile.

This Nile is a home to crocodiles, schools of hippos and beautiful birds that accentuate the aesthetics of the Nile. The park is also a habitant to herds of African elephants and cape buffalos. Not only is it home to those animals but also a home to varies prides of lions that one can sited in the savannah, leopards and lots of antelope species like the Ugandan kob, oribi and Jackson's hartebeest. Uganda is blessed to have most of the Rothschild giraffes that are located mainly in this park. Monkeys can also be found swinging from tree to tree.

For those interested in birding, Murchison Falls National Park is ideal for this activity. Birds like the shoebill stork and Abyssinian ground hornbill can be found in the park. It is a place where gaggles can always look out for. Not forgetting the crested crane, Uganda’s emblem. Being the largest park, it also has game reserves and a forest where you can carry out chimp trekking. The best time to visit. You are always welcome throughout the year although the best time to visit is a dry season where you can spot most of the wildlife and this is between December and February also June to September. The best time to view the falls in its glorious stage is in the rainy season,The birds in the park can be sited throughout the year.
