Steet market

There is nothing more charming than getting lost in a big street market and observing people buying, talking, and enjoying their everyday life. I'm in love with the street markets - starting with those with veggies and fruits and ending on the places with souvenirs. Yes, they also can be amazing, although the atmosphere is totally different.

From many bigger and smaller street markets, one is worth extra attention. It's San Telmo Market, located in a district of the same name. You will find there some clothes, tourist attractions, handmade decorations, food, jewelry, and basically everything that you can dream of. The prices are not that high, so it's definitely not one of that tourist traps that you can find in some popular destinations.

I would recommend you to book 3-4 hours for that attraction at least, As it's located on the streets, the entrance is free and no reservation is required. Take some money though - I'm sure you will buy one or two things there.

Tango

When I think of Argentina, four things come to my mind instantly - Asado (local BBQ), wines from the Mendoza region, football, and.. tango, obviously. This dance invented and popularized by Argentinians is still very present in the capital city. There is even special website, hoy-milonga where you can check what events tango-related are organized today in your district. Check it out and you will discover that every single day there are at least 20-30 tango events in Buenos Aires. Isn't it magical?

Now, there are a few options for how you can get to know with that dance: the bravest can participate in one of many tango lessons, while shy can just come for the event, order a wine (or non-alcoholic beverage), and observe people dancing. I know that the eyes are catching young and attractive people at first, but try to put extra attention on the oldest couples. They truly know how to dance and it comes so naturally to them, their moves are so smooth... it's magical to see what do they do, while not even thinking about where to put your feet next time.

Cafe Tortoni

Iconic place, where the intellectual elite and artists were coming for over a hundred years. That cafeteria has been opened in 1858 and the vibe from the XIXth century is still very present in decorations: vitrages, pictures, and paints on the walls, a bit darkened room, unusual furniture.

Here you will drink the best coffee in the city, eat breakfast, or order alfajor - traditional cookie and the most popular tiny dessert in Argentina. You may expect unforgettable moments, the best possible service, delicious beverages, and... low prices! Yes, the prices are very reasonable and in Europe or the US, you would be unable to buy a coffee for such a low amount even in the smallest town in the middle of nothing.

Recoleta Cemetery

I know what you probably think - you came to Argentina to have fun and nice, unusual experiences while some guy on the internet is sending you to see the cemetery. Well, if you will listen to me, you may be positively surprised.

The place is very different from the cemeteries I have visited until now. The tombs are huge and impressive, alleys remind more parks or mini-city. You may learn plenty about the history of Argentina in that place. Here you will find Evita Peron, presidents, artists, scientists, and others. BBC put it once on the list of 10 most beautiful cemeteries in the world - I don't know if they are right, didn't see all the cemeteries in the world yet, but one thing I can confirm - you feel amazed and relaxed there, so in many ways, it is more like going out to the park than seeing the place where dead people rest in peace.

Botanical Garden and Japanese Garden

It's two different destinations in two different places, but I decided to describe both of them because surely a person interested in one will gladly visit the second as well. Both gardens are very big, the entrance is free and you may learn plenty from there as all the plants are properly described. The only thing that was disturbing me a bit is the early time of closing the area. If I'm not wrong, it closes at 18.00 (check on their website before arrival though, it may change in any moment).

Seeing all the places being highlighted here, vising Argentina wouldn't be a big deal. Stay safe and most importantly, please my regards to mom and you will get yours when you are fully back to steemit next week. The places are beautiful and the cemetery being mentioned by BBC as one the top 10 notch cemeteries in the world is amazing, I was aware but today, I know it.
