Aceh Achieves Strong Achievements in National Martial Arts Games, This Branch Contributes Gold
Aceh participated in 10 branches in the National Martial Arts Games held in Kudus, Central Java (Indonesia), from October 11-26, 2025. Several athletes successfully won medals for the limited Aceh contingent.
After several days of competitions that failed to produce satisfactory results, Aceh finally delivered a medal. The Aceh contingent won 1 gold, 3 silver, and 8 bronze medals.
As reported by the General Secretary of the Aceh National Sports Committee (KONI), Ahyar ST, the Aceh contingent started with a disappointing performance, failing to win medals in several events. However, Tarung Derajat eventually won 1 silver medal, followed by Taekwondo, 1 silver, and 2 bronze medals.
Shorinji Kempo broke the gold medal drought on the final day of competition. Faisal Hakim, competing in the Randori 60 kg class, advanced to the final and faced an athlete from West Sumatra.
"The burden on his shoulders was inevitable. Thanks to the team's incredible spirit and motivation, Faisal ultimately defeated his opponent with a score of 10-5. Faisal was declared the champion in that class," reported Ahyar, who, along with other KONI Aceh officials, was deeply moved by the gold medal.
News of the first gold medal quickly spread among sports enthusiasts, prompting congratulations to Faisal and the Aceh contingent. Kempo contributed one gold and one bronze medal.
Other medals for Aceh came from sambo, which contributed one silver and three bronze medals. As of this writing, karate, wushu, and jujitsu had not yet held competitions.
The chairman of KONI Aceh, Saiful Bahri, also known as Pon Yaya, stated that Aceh was participating in 10 sports, but with a limited number of athletes. "Considering this is a transition period under the old management, the students' achievements at the PON Martial Arts are very encouraging," he said.
The Indonesian Martial Arts National Games (PON Beladiri) is a prestigious national martial arts event initiated by the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) to increase athletes' competitive experience. This PON Beladiri is the second such event, following the first Indonesian Martial Arts event, held in Bekasi in October 2023.
