Aceh DPR Speaker's Statement Under Fire, Warning of Risk of Disharmony

DPRA Speaker Zulfadhli's statement regarding the performance of the Aceh Government, particularly regarding the Aceh Regional Secretary (Sekda) M. Nasir Syamaun, has drawn responses from various groups, including the Aceh Transition Committee (KPA) and the Aceh Party's Bener Meriah Regional Executive Board (DPW), Sabri, also known as Bedel.

"The DPRA represents the people and regions of each district/city, while the executive branch is an extension of the government to serve the people. Therefore, both DPRA Speaker Abang Samalanga and the Aceh Regional Secretary M. Nasir Syamaun are the best sons of Aceh today, whom Mualem trusts most to lead these two institutions," Bedel said on Monday, February 2, 2026.

According to him, criticism is natural and should encourage the Regional Secretary to work harder. However, such criticism should not stem from dissatisfaction with one party alone, or because of things that conflict with certain desires, leading to a narrative of removal.

"That's wrong. Let's support the Regional Secretary in his work and give him the opportunity and time to prove himself," Bedel emphasized.

According to him, the current Aceh Regional Secretary is a rare figure: he is young, has a vision for building and advancing Aceh, and carries out the vision and mission of Aceh Governor H. Muzakir Manaf (Mualem) and Deputy Governor Fadhlullah (Dek Fad).

"Don't be provoked by those who want the Mualem-Dek Fad administration to fail, are power-hungry, and there are some who would be embarrassed if the Mualem administration were successful and loved by the Acehnese people," he added.

The statement by the Speaker of the Aceh Regional People's Representative Council (DPRA), he argued, has the potential to create the impression of disharmony between the executive and legislative branches, in this case between the Aceh Regional Secretary and the DPRA Speaker. This situation could trigger negative perceptions among the public if not addressed wisely.

"Now is the time for us to help Mualem, as Governor of Aceh, provide the best service to the public. We will prove that we work for the people, not fight for power and blame each other. Past experiences should be a lesson. When the PA took over the reins of government, internal divisions arose. That dark period must not be repeated," Bedel added.

He also reminded that the KPA and PA are present in 23 regencies/cities in Aceh. Therefore, he requested that intensive communication be opened to maintain unity in assisting Mualem in carrying out the people's mandate.

"In parliament, there are 21 of the best PA cadres representing regencies/cities. So, build communication with us, the KPA-PA, in each regency. Don't let us be mere spectators. Give us opportunities. Don't let only a few people enjoy their positions after assuming office," he said.

According to Bedel, the Regional Secretary is an official who enjoys the full trust of the Governor of Aceh. Therefore, if there is anything that needs to be criticized, it should be conveyed through internal communication channels, rather than through open statements in the media and publicity as if the Regional Secretary is incapable of carrying out his duties.

He also hopes that the Aceh Government and the Aceh Regional People's Representative Council (DPRA) will now focus on helping disaster victims, especially in Central Aceh and East Aceh, to quickly secure temporary housing (huntara), and to assist community efforts in economic recovery.

"Our community is currently struggling to recover its economy after the disaster, especially as we approach Ramadan. So, let's not be too busy finding fault with each other, but rather unite to help the community," Bedel concluded.[]
