The Chairperson and members of the Lhokseumawe City Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) held a meeting with the Head of RRI Lhokseumawe, Wenny Zulianti, SH, MH, on Thursday, February 19, 2026, as part of strengthening institutional synergy in supporting democracy in Lhokseumawe.

During the meeting, the two parties discussed several strategic agendas, including ongoing monitoring of election data updates currently being carried out by Bawaslu and planning for broadcast content production related to political party data updates by the General Elections Commission (KPU).

On this occasion, Ayi Jufridar stated that planning content creation related to political party data updates is a crucial step to ensure the public receives comprehensive and balanced information.

According to him, the collaboration with RRI, as a public broadcasting institution, will expand the reach of election education, enabling a transparent and accountable understanding of each stage.

The Head of the Elections Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) or Panwaslih (Elections Supervisory Agency) of Lhokseumawe City, Dedy Syahputra, emphasized that Bawaslu's role extends beyond the election process. "Bawaslu is not only involved in the election process, but also in non-election contexts. We are both guardians of elections and guardians of democracy," he said.

He added that the main challenge currently is instilling democratic values in society, which requires cross-sector collaboration, including public broadcasters like RRI.

Meanwhile, Yuli Asbar stated that based on various discussions with community groups, there has been a lot of input and feedback from the public, especially considering that election regulations in Aceh are unique compared to other regions. He also highlighted the challenge of monitoring money politics, which is considered difficult because it affects social conditions in the community.

Wenny Zulianti proposed a joint broadcast program between Bawaslu and RRI that would highlight the aspirations, hopes, and voices of the community. This collaboration is expected to provide a space for education and public participation in the democratic process. She also encouraged the public to have the courage to express their choices responsibly as part of democratic maturity.

Furthermore, Bawaslu also plans to expand its democratic education approach to the younger generation and first-time voters to foster a healthy understanding of politics from an early age. This effort is seen as a strategy to strengthen the quality of democracy in the future.

The hearing concluded with a joint commitment to renew the memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Lhokseumawe City Bawaslu and RRI as a concrete step to strengthen cooperation in building a participatory, transparent, and integrated democracy in Lhokseumawe City.[]
