Aceh Governor Muzakir Manaf inaugurated 25 Echelon II officials within the Aceh Government at Anjong Mon Mata, Banda Aceh (Indonesia), on the evening of Friday, February 27, 2026. The inauguration of these dozens of strategic officials should not be interpreted as simply a routine tour of duty within the bureaucracy.

Behind these inaugurations lie new responsibilities, challenges, and hopes. These positions are not only for the career advancement of the officials concerned, but also for the broader progress of Aceh as it recovers from the flood disaster.

The inauguration comes at a very opportune moment amidst Aceh's post-disaster reconstruction and rehabilitation period. The challenges facing the new officials are indeed formidable, if they are aware of the trust placed on their shoulders by Mualem, Muzakir Manaf's nickname.

Regional heads do not grant this trust as an opportunity to enrich themselves or their groups, or as a reward for the influential figures who brought them to their current positions. Appointments are not intended for such lowly purposes.

If you follow the job tender process through news reports, including those presented by this media, everything is in accordance with laws and regulations. The selection committee is comprised of former bureaucrats and academics known for their capacity.

Aceh needs officials with capacity and integrity who can optimize all potential and energy to pursue regional progress. Aceh was already facing significant challenges even before the disaster struck. Suboptimal economic growth, the quality of education that still needs improvement, and unemployment, a perennial problem, demand renewed energy within the bureaucracy. Therefore, newly inaugurated officials must realize that the public is not waiting for a ceremony, but for concrete performance.

This awareness must be shared by all officials, including newly inaugurated officials, both in technical and administrative fields. This way, they can work with honesty and full trustworthiness. The fact that various parties are involved in the selection process is a dynamic that cannot be ignored.

Once everything is complete, all officials must focus on working to the best of their ability, synergizing with all stakeholders.

Integrity and capacity are two key foundations. Without integrity, policies lose their moral compass. Without capacity, programs lose their effectiveness. The combination of the two will create clean, transparent, and results-oriented governance.

Now that the inauguration process is over, there is no longer room for polarization or divisions of interest. All officials, both technical and administrative, must move in unison with the development rhythm. The new energy being conveyed will only be meaningful if translated into collaborative work with all stakeholders.

Ultimately, the people of Aceh will not be judged by who is inaugurated, but by the extent to which change is truly felt. That is where new hopes are tested—not in words, but in concrete action.[]
