Power Not Yet Restored, PLN Supplies Materials by Helicopter |

The flood disaster in Aceh has resulted in the electricity system not being restored in several areas. As of Saturday, November 29, 2025, blackouts were still occurring in several areas due to damaged network infrastructure.
Power outages were widespread in almost all areas. Mahfud, a Pidie Jaya resident, said the electricity only came on for a short time, leaving him with little time to charge his cell phone. "But after a short time, it went out again," he said when contacted by phone on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. WIB.
Residents in Lhokseumawe City, North Aceh, East Aceh, Langsa, Aceh Tamiang, Pidie Jaya, and almost all of Aceh were experiencing similar conditions. A WhatsApp group consisting of residents from all regencies/cities in Aceh reported unstable electricity conditions as of Saturday afternoon. "In Alue Awe, it's still out," said Andre, whose office is in Alue Awe Village, Muara Dua District, Lhokseumawe.
Eddi Saputra, Manager of PLN's Aceh Main Distribution Unit (UID), acknowledged the previous day that electricity distribution remains unstable and uneven. His office continues to make repairs on the ground after nine towers collapsed and three were damaged due to flooding and strong winds.
"This damage is very significant for the reliability of the electricity supply because this network connects the electricity system in parts of Aceh," he said.
Due to the collapsed electricity towers and damage to the transmission system, electricity supply was disrupted in Banda Aceh, North Aceh, Lhokseumawe, Bireuen, Bener Meriah, Langsa, East Aceh, Nagan Raya, Southwest Aceh, Aceh Jaya, Aceh Singkil, Aceh Tamiang, Central Aceh, Bener Meriah, Pidie, Pidie Jaya, and South Aceh.
For Banda Aceh, so far, PLN has only been able to optimize the Luengbata Diesel Power Plant (PLTD).
To address these challenges, Eddi stated that PLN has deployed hundreds of personnel on standby with support from various parties, including the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the Indonesian National Police (Polri). In addition, PLN will build five emergency towers as a speedy solution. "We are deploying joint personnel from North Sumatra, Riau, Jakarta, West Java, and Central Java," he added.
In addition to personnel support, Eddi also mentioned the mobilization of materials from Palembang, Lampung, Jambi, Pekanbaru, and Padang to ensure the speedy recovery. "We hope the situation will stabilize soon. We have two Hercules transporters to mobilize equipment," Eddi added.
Regarding the still-disturbed land access, Eddi stated that PLN will supply materials by helicopter to the Bireuen and Aceh Tamiang areas. They are also working to optimize the power plant in Nagan Raya. "Hopefully, the residents of Banda Aceh and parts of Pidie can be served, although it will be very limited," Eddi said.[]
