The Diary Game:[10-04-2026] Attending A Funeral And Other Friday Engagements

Hello my steemit audience, I am Esther Ndarake Umoh, a newcomer here on the platform and I'm so excited to be sharing another episode of my diary with you all today. I attended a funeral of my colleague's mom today which happened to be the highlight of my engagement today. She tragically lost her mother in an auto crash earlier this year and funeral arrangements began some weeks after that so as a colleague, we all stepped out today to give her support.

We went in a group and you all know that since we're dealing with different individuals, there'll be so much drama. We got to the funeral ground Kate because of some persons who came out late and the bus couldn't move without them as they were some important persons in this occasion, one was the financial secretary and the other our president. When we arrived the funeral, the deceased was being lowered into the grave. I shedded tears because the woman was still much very young and had life in her but life was taken from her without notice. We rounded our table and began to make donations to support our colleague and some certain amount which was more than a hundred thousand was realized and given to her in support, we were served with drinks and meals and before 1pm, I was back home to relax.

When I got home, I spent about an hour having my nap. I woke up to have my bath as the room was very hot and I couldn't sleep any longer, I began to perceive an odour in the kitchen and I was certain I had some dirty plates I didn't wash but I knew that might not be the cause of the awful smell so I traced the smell and found a dead rat in the kitchen. It was inside my plate basket so I took out the plate basket and other dirty things in the house to wash, swept and mopped both my room and kitchen before having my bath.

In the evening, I was so confused on what to prepare for dinner that I decided to just go to the restaurant and buy a plate of food to eat but my roommate suggested we both contribute money and prepare a pot of Afang soup which would last us for the weekend instead of sending money on food at the restaurant, I bought the idea and began to make list for the soup. I listed out things and the sum total was just three thousand, nine hundred naira only, my roommate was astonished at how affordable the budget was and decided to add more things just to make the soup rich.

We both went out and bought the ingredients and upon our return, I took out the cow skin and other ingredients to wash and steam them while my roommate worked on the vegetables. Our work was easier and faster as two hands were involved, in less than an hour, the meal was ready and served and we ate to our satisfaction. I had a movie time before going our to trash my waste and uoom my return, I took my bath before I came here to drop an update on my Fridays engagements.
