A positive culture is the values of goodness consistently and gradually implemented in an environment, with the aim of fostering and fostering noble moral values and creating a safe, comfortable, and fair environment, for the sake of a pleasant teaching and learning atmosphere.
The school environment is essentially a place to gain knowledge, and it must be nurtured with a variety of positive cultural values so that students and teachers can feel at ease in carrying out these routine obligations, without any elements of security issues or inequality.
Some key points of a positive culture in the school environment are the creation of a safe, comfortable, and inclusive learning environment that is student-centered, built through the instilling of character values such as discipline, honesty, respect, and responsibility. This culture aims to foster students' intrinsic motivation, encourage active participation, and improve academic and emotional achievement.
The main pillar in creating a positive culture in the school environment is the teacher. In this regard, teachers act as good role models and guides for students, not simply demanding from them, but rather serving as role models for them.
Teachers encourage good behavior in students out of self-awareness, not simply to avoid punishment. Teachers create a safe dialogue space between teachers, students, and parents. Teachers are also the primary actors in creating a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable school atmosphere for students to learn.
Here are some examples of a positive culture that must be created and implemented in the school environment:
1. Smile, Greet, Say Hello to, and Welcome Students
This should be done by every teacher every day in the school environment, especially when welcoming students at the school gate.
2. Establishing Routine Habits
Routine activities that must be strengthened in the school environment include conducting morning activities solemnly, such as ceremonies, morning exercises, and so on. Starting with a group prayer before and after lessons, and cooperative activities or mutual cooperation.
3. Positive Discipline
Positive discipline includes maintaining classroom and school environment cleanliness, queuing, and obeying rules without coercion.
4. Appreciation
Giving recognition to students' efforts, not just their results. This is done to build students' self-confidence.
5. Character Values
Honesty, responsibility, cooperation, and tolerance are always fostered and developed within the school environment.
Benefits of a Positive Culture in the School Environment
Creating a positive culture in a school will foster independent and responsible student character. It will increase student engagement in learning. It will also foster a harmonious and safe school environment.
Creating and building a positive culture in the school environment is truly a shared responsibility of all school members: teachers, staff, and students, starting with small, consistent steps.
