The Diary Game:A very hectic Tuesday with traffic delays [31/03/2026]

Greetings, my fellow Steemians, and welcome back to another episode of my daily blog. By the grace of God, I woke this morning, said my prayers, enjoyed a quick breakfast, and prepared myself for another day at work. However, this particular Tuesday proved to be unexpectedly challenging, especially concerning the morning commute.
The previous night's heavy rainfall had transformed the city, leaving behind a landscape thoroughly soaked and somewhat disheveled. The roadsides were muddy, and the general surroundings appeared rather chaotic. One had to tread with extreme caution to avoid stepping into puddles or muddy patches, which could easily stain shoes and even clothing. Interestingly, the main highway itself, though congested, showed fewer immediate signs of the downpour, suggesting the rain had been more localized or had drained more efficiently there.

My journey to work began with an arduous wait. The traffic was exceptionally heavy, and what should have been a routine commute turned into a test of patience. We were essentially at a standstill for nearly an hour before the flow of vehicles began to ease. It was a frustrating experience, observing the slow crawl of cars and the growing impatience of fellow commuters. Eventually, fortune smiled upon me, and I managed to secure a vehicle that would convey me to my workplace.
Unsurprisingly, I arrived quite late. Yet, a sense of calm prevailed, as I noticed many other individuals trickling in around the same time, all bearing similar expressions of weary resignation from the morning's ordeal. This shared experience somehow lessened the personal burden of tardiness. Lunch, too, was delayed beyond its usual hour, but it was a welcome break nonetheless. I opted for a simple yet satisfying meal of soup and fufu wraps at a local restaurant, a comforting indulgence before returning to the demands of my job.

As the late afternoon wore on, a profound weariness began to settle in after attending to a continuous stream of customers. Seeking a brief respite, I decided to step away from my tasks for a moment. I pulled out a book I had been meaning to read, "The Art of Seduction," and immersed myself in its pages. It proved to be a surprisingly engaging read, offering a fascinating perspective on human interaction and influence. This quiet interlude was a perfect way to pass the time and recharge my mental batteries.

By approximately 5 PM, having finished my reading and feeling somewhat refreshed, I began to pack up my belongings. My primary goal was to avoid the notorious evening rush hour, which, as anyone who has experienced it knows, can be incredibly stressful and draining. I was determined to reach home before the roads became impassable once more.
My efforts paid off, and I arrived in my neighborhood with relative ease. The remaining distance to my house was covered on foot, a walk I often cherish. It's during these solitary moments that I find myself soliloquizing, reflecting on the day's events, and meditating on various thoughts that cross my mind. It's a peaceful transition from the day's hustle to the tranquility of home.

Just five minutes from my doorstep, I made a quick stop at a local suya joint, unable to resist the tempting aroma of freshly grilled meat. A small portion of fried meat was the perfect savory treat to cap off what had been a truly hectic day. Despite the challenges, I found a strange enjoyment in the day's rhythm, and the feeling of finally reaching home, knowing rest awaited, was immensely relieving.
