WHAT REALLY MATTERS? Part 2 of Life Lessons Series

Hey everyone,

It's a pleasure taking time off of my studies to engage here on this platform. I am still in school and i am much engaged these past few weeks. I know some awesome members here who have alot to juggle but still find time to promote Steemit, post and engage on Steemit and they are still successful in their endeavors. You guys are awesome and you inspire me to be better. I wanna be better everyday!

At times school work is overwhelming i get very little time to do the rest. However, this week at school we were reminded of the importance of having a pace setter or a time table for your daily activities. It's such a long time since i had made a time table. Since my school days i guess. I wasn't even the one who made it, it was made for us! Hmmm.... now it's back to that small but very important habit. I have made sure i allocate Steemit the time and effort it demands and deserves so that i don't miss out on any opportunities on the platform, so help me God!

That said, i would like to share another part of the life lessons that i had promised to share about. Have you ever thought about why we are here? As in, why we roam the world? Why we get up everyday and struggle to get the best? Have you ever thought about why we have contentions and war? Why we have alliances and festivities? I have, alot. What really matters to us, is it love, food or health? Let me share some of the things that i find worth mentioning as what matters above all else that we chase after.

• Looks

It doesn't matter whether you believe it or not but looks matter alot. By looks i mean both ways. The physique and the accessories. You have seen recently that there are more rich and handsome or beautiful families. The two go hand in hand. You are successful in life by only two things apart from sheer luck, that is Hardwork or Beauty. No beautiful person can ever go unnoticed and unsuccessful unless they are too damb to think for themselves. Women have been the beneficiaries of such advantage, taking kingdoms away from kings, and destroying families and dynasties. Never underestimate the power of a beautiful woman or man. Why do successful businesses pay heavily for expensive beautiful models? And the ads? The magazines?

Why spend so much on makeup if its not worth alot? As regards accessories, dressing makes a huge statement about a person. Right from the shoe to the hair cut, all says a million words to onlookers, who in this case include potential employers, spouses, workers, teammates, etc.

So what? You'll ask me. It's up to you. If you are beautiful, go full throttle, and take what's yours. No one can resist you. If you are not so endowed, dress up fancy, make a statement with your character, your perfume or cologne. And work harder. If you are ugly, work hardest!

• Money
  You have heard, i am sure, women or men say, "i am not after your money". Yeah, right! I would say that even in my dreams: the thing is, we subconsciously know that money is the thing. Where there is money, there is life. Money definitely matters. Where there is money, there is a way, where there is money there is love, where there is money, there is respect! Make the money, love can wait. Success is measured with money.

• Grades
  I have seen people succeed because they come from rich families, but not all of us are born with a silver spoon in our mouths. At times it's your effort that will propel you to success. If you have the intellect, it's a bonus for you. If you are an average person like me, push harder, go beyond your limits and step into the unknown, hardwork always pays off in getting a good education.

Good education makes responsible citizens and without an education, or with poor grades, you will never have the chance to find your potential. Parents that teach their children to get good grades have a surety that they will always be the best in their classes. Success already!

• Talent
  This obviously counts. God has indeed given us many talents. I can name quite some names that have conquered the world because of their talent. In the intellectual circles, Einstein etc, in the sports world, Ethiopians, Kenyans, Jamaicans etc, in the football world, the likes of Ronaldo, Messi, Mohammad sala etc , in the entertainment world, Michael Jackson, Beyoncé, etc have done it with talent.

  However, can you also see a different force in play common among all the above? Hardwork combined with talent becomes extra-ordinary.

• Family and Friends
  This is by far one of the most important things and one that really matters. Without a family, it's impossible to feel the love, warmth, hospitality, unity and happiness of this world. They make the memories we have, and they are all we go with to the next life. it's always important to make time for family whenever we can. Like they say, "Family first".
  As for friends, having no friends is as deadly as smoking.

• Faith
  Your religion matters, alot. After all when you die, it's your faith that shines a light to your next path in the afterlife. However, it shouldn't be at the point of death that we remember our God and our covenants. Living a religious life gives peace, fulfillment and strength to endure hardship and win. An unbeliever is like a ship without a captain.
