The Mummy 1999 : Movie Review
Hello!!!
So this is my Review about the movie titled The Mummy, written and directed by Stephen Sommers. It is a remake of the 1932 film of the same title and stars Brendan Fraser, Rachel Weisz, John Hannah, and Kevin J. O'Connor, with Arnold Vosloo.

The film plot is revolves around the protagonist, Rick O’Connell, an adventurer who along with an librarian and another group of adventurers accidentally release the undead priest who for his sins against the crown had been condemned to punishment.
The film was shot in the Sahara Desert and the animation and visuals are mind blowing given the year of the movie. The filmmakers reportedly spent $15 million of the $80 million budget on special effects. The Mummy opened on May 7, 1999, and grossed $43 million in 3,210 theaters in the United States and Canada on its opening weekend, the highest non-holiday May opening of all time.
The films inspired both an animated TV series titled The Mummy, which lasted two seasons, and a spin-off prequel, The Scorpion King (2002). Universal announced plans in 2012 to reboot the franchise a new film, also titled The Mummy, was released in June 2017
Apart from the amazing acting by the cast and the stunning visuals we also see beautiful desert scenes and wonderful shots of pyramids, gold etc.
One of my favourite highlights of the movie is when Imhotep raises the sands of the Deserts and creates a massive sand replica of his face and swallows the plane whole into the sand. The music and effect during that scene is so real and alive I still get goose bumps every time I see it
I might have seen this movie more than 60-70 times through the time. This was the first film that I watched in a theatre and actually the first movie I understood. Ever since this has been my all time favourite movie that I switch on and watch any time. I used to watch this over and over every time I feel bored.
Every scene is a trill and the viewer is left gripping his seat the whole show. The last scene is the cherry on the icing when both the protagonists leave on a camel with sacks filled with golden articles.
This was the movie that made me fall in love with the concept of Egyptian Civilisation. After seeing this movie I wanted to become an archeologist and stay in Egypt with the pyramids, sands and snakes. I remember studying my history lessons on Egyptian Civilisation with amazingly sincere diligence and had even managed to top the class.
That apart this is a must watch movie for every person and would be my number one recommendation to you.
This movie will make you fall in love with Egypt just like me.
Do make share to spare some time and watch this if not seen before.
If you have already seen it...well it doesn’t hurt to watch it again... 😁✨
