A reminder to the relaxing minds
Not to over rest and be a sleeper
Bereft of the consciousness of time
That it will soon be dawn
The time for endless hustle.
Both at night and noon
An effort by natural timekeeper
To carry out its role
Of awakening humankind
To its prime duty of working
With time.
Of alerting and reminding mortal man
Neither to oversleep nor over work
Moving to beat the impending darkness
And its over bearing dangers
An unquantifiable service by the cock
Unpaid for by human race.
