Eid at nightfall: My unspoken words

Tonight is somehow different. Standing on the balcony and looking at the sky, it seems like the wheel of time is spinning so fast! That day, Ramadan began, and tonight, the festival of our lives, 'Eid', is here. I remember those days of my childhood very much today. Back then, seeing the Eid moon meant a different excitement. Taking out the new clothes from the closet again and again, and calculating how many takas of salami would be in my pocket.

Now we may have grown up, our lives have become busier, but that eternal joy of Eid still tickles somewhere in our hearts. In fact, Eid does not mean just a day; Eid means a feeling. For me, the real meaning of Eid is hidden in those old words—

“Eid means laughter, Eid means hope. Eid means my love for you.

Eid means the smile of the sweet moon in the distant sky. Eid means everyone floating together in the ocean of happiness.”

When I hear the scent of henna and laughter all around me on this moonlit night, I feel like life is truly beautiful. Waking up to the smell of that special semai from my mother's hand tomorrow morning, going to pray with my father in Punjabi—these small moments are the real joy. We may not be aware of where we are or what we do throughout the year, but this day of Eid binds us all together. Islam has taught us this custom of forgetting all anger and resentment and uniting our hearts.

However, one thing comes to mind again and again today. There are many people around us for whom Eid is just as difficult as ten ordinary days. Some may not have new clothes, and some may not even have good food in their homes tomorrow. I think that if we can share even a small part of our happiness with them, then only will our Eid be meaningful. Love is meant to be shared, right?

May everyone have a great day tomorrow. May no one have any sadness in their hearts. Let's forget all the hatred and jealousy and hold each other's hands. Let's all laugh and be happy.

Much love to all and advance 'Eid Mubarak'. May this Eid bring unending peace and tranquility in all our lives.
