Feminism or convenience? 🤔
How are you all my friends! I hope you are all doing well. The topic of this controversial competition in the "Columbia-Original" community is very important; of course, I will try to discuss the whole topic. First of all, I would like to thank @frankzalez for organizing such an important competition. Feminism vs. convenience, in the context of today's society, this is really a 'hot topic'. Today, I will not share with you any definition memorized from textbooks or the Internet, but rather the reality and feelings I have seen with my own eyes.

What does the word 'feminism' mean to me?
Honestly, for me, 'feminism' does not mean a war, nor a venom against men. For me, feminism means that I deserve the respect and equal opportunities that I deserve as a human being.
We cannot deny that God created us with differences in our physical structure. But there should be no difference between men and women in talent, dreams, and abilities. In my opinion, feminism is the belief that a woman has the freedom to make her own decisions in life, whether it is a housewife or rocket science. It is not about belittling anyone, but rather walking alongside them.
At what point do you think feminism stopped being a fight for rights and began to be used for convenience?
I think it becomes opportunism whenever we start looking for 'privilege' instead of 'equality'. Feminism has lost its way when we want "equal rights" but are afraid to take on "equal responsibilities".
For example, when we say, "We can do everything," but when it comes to paying the bill at a restaurant or doing heavy work, we expect a man to do it because "he is a man," that's when feminism becomes opportunism. When the fight for rights becomes a tool to achieve one's own interests, it is no longer an ideal. None of you will mind this; this is the reality.
Have I seen feminism used for convenience?
Yes, of course I have, and this is a bitter truth of our society. Let me give you an example, in public transport or on a bus. I have seen many times a healthy young woman forcing an elderly or tired man to give up his seat just because she says "woman." But that woman has no physical problems. Again, that woman may be the one demanding equal pay in the office.
When it comes to promotion in the office or workplace, we want gender neutrality. But when it comes to night shifts or difficult work, many people say, "I am a girl, why do I have to work so many nights?" Responsibility Opportunism is the act of using feminism only to gain an advantage.

Which aspects of feminism are essential and which are distorted?
Essential aspects: Women's education, voting rights, their own rights over their own bodies, and a fair share of family property—these are fundamental and very important aspects of feminism. Ensuring women's safety and not suppressing their voices—these are still relevant.
Distorted aspects: Much of what is happening in the name of feminism today is misogyny or 'misandry'. The mentality of "all men are bad" or "men are the enemy" is a distorted form of feminism. Society can move forward by making men friends, not enemies. Trying to make yourself bigger by belittling someone was never the purpose of feminism.
Do some women use feminism to avoid the consequences of their decisions?
Unfortunately, yes. In some cases, this happens. We see that some women, even when they make mistakes, just play the "I'm a woman, therefore I'm a victim" card. In any argument, when they lose an argument, many resort to emotional blackmail or threaten to file false harassment charges. This is insulting to real abused women. Because when someone makes a false accusation, people also look at the true story of the real victims with suspicion. Using feminism as a shield to avoid responsibility for one's own injustice is highly immoral.
"You don't need men to progress in life"—what is my opinion about these women?
I think that those who say such things are denying reality or saying it out of arrogance. The world is about 'co-existence'.
None of us can walk alone. The woman who says she doesn't need men, the house she lives in may have been built by a male worker, tand he technology she uses also has a male contribution. Again, men are also incomplete without women. Without a woman's role as a mother, sister, wife, or daughter, a man's life is also stagnant. So "you don't need men"—this is an indication of an immature and ungrateful mentality. You can be successful alone, but life is beautiful. It is necessary to complement each other.
Should women and men have equal rights and duties? Why?
Rights and duties are two sides of the same coin. I think that rights should be 100% equal in terms of opportunities. But we have to be realistic when it comes to duties.
If I demand equal pay and respect as men, then I also have to have the mentality of working hard and taking risks as men. If I say "I want equal rights", but in times of danger I say "Save me first because I am a girl" - then that is hypocrisy.
But yes, due to differences in physical capabilities, there may be differences in a few duties; it's far for the sake of compassion or humanity, now not for the sake of the regulation. At the quit of the day, if you need same rights, you ought to additionally have the braveness to shoulder same obligations.
Feminism is not a fashion; it is a sense of responsibility. Let us think of ourselves as partners, not as opponents of men. Let us avoid opportunism and build a world of true equality where competence and humanity will be the real identity, not gender.
I am inviting my friends @mauromar, and @muzack1 @zzan.atomy @adelepazani to participate in this competition. (Here you will put the usernames of your three friends).
🎉 Congratulations!
