Steemit Engagement Challenge Season5 Week2 : My medical experiences
Truly speaking, I have not seen anyone who hasn't visited a physician for one reason or the other. I, for my part, I have visited them time without number and I experiences range from good to bad and vice versa.
When you visit the hospitals, it is the patients that wait for the doctors and not the other way round. This underscores the importance of physicians. They are very important in our lives so long as we all still get sick.
Thanks to you dear community for this amazing contest idea. I have been able to recall all the expenses I have had so far trying to be healthy. It is time for me to give attention to the contest tips.
Are you afraid of any medical instrument? Ex: syringes, sphygmomanometer, stethoscope, etc. Tell us why.
---
I am only afraid of syringes and other surgical instruments especially the ones used for cuts. This is because I have experienced the pain time without numbers. The piercing effects of those instruments leave me with a lot of pains afterwards. When I am given injections especially at my buttocks, I don't remain myself for days.
During childbirth, the cuts that are given to enable the baby come out from the cervix is usually very painful and unbearable in most cases. I don't even wish to go through them again. When I still recall those days when I gave birth to my kids, I didn't even wish to be pregnant again, haha🤦and I pity those who are still giving birth but notwithstanding, they will all pass through it successfully.
Are you afraid of any medical specialist? To which? we would like to know why.
---
Sincerely speaking, I am not afraid of any of them at all. Only their deeds on me. I make them my friend because they are very important and helpful. I admire their advice and instructions and when I follow them, I will be miles away from the hospital.
I will soon let you know about the childhood trauma I went through that made me value them a lot instead of being afraid of them.
I have had the previllage to have so many of them as friends, the gynecologists that takes care of me during pregnancies, and others. I am not afraid of them at all. On the contrary, I willingly submit myself to them for medical examinations and treatments. I understand the value of life and that a stitch in time will always save nine and even more. When we are afraid of them, then we can't be able to let them know all our health challenges and hiding our health challenges makes them worst and at the end, we will be subjected to more and more medical treatments than necessary. They are our friends.
Do you remember any uncomfortable, painful, funny or unpleasant medical experience? Share it with us🙂
---
Sickness on its own doesn't make one smile or happy. So too, there is nothing funny about it. But most experiences are painful and unpleasant. I have had many experiences but I will relate one that just happened recently.
It is about my eye. Right from my secondary school years, I have been experiencing pains, itching and reddishness in my eyes especially after the days hustle. Several times, I visited the hospitals for the treatment, they treat and even give me eyeglasses which I will use for sometimes and then dump because of the headache I do experience wearing them.
The pain is usually severe during dry season due to dust particles entering the eyes. I also noticed a reddish growth in the eye that is advancing and encroaching to the pupil. I had been worried about it and asking for a solution to it but the doctors will keep telling me that it is not something to worry about for now until it is upto the stage of surgery. They will give me some drugs for it.
But early this year, I learned of an Indian doctor that visits my former city of residence and how good he is when it comes to the eye. I made arrangements to visit him for examination and possibly treatment.
When I visited, he told me that the reddish growth needs to be removed. I wasn't prepared for it but I just had to do it because I want to really get that growth off my eyes. I don't want to see them again.
The Minor operation was done that same day and medicines were given and others prescribed. It was very painful for me that day. I couldn't look up and down but I managed to go home that day. But after 2 weeks,a growth came out again but this time around, it shoot out that even when I close my eyes, it will be seen. I put a call again across to the doctor and he told that it will be removed again. I nearly fainted. It was so disheartening to hear that considering how painful the first one was. But I had no other option if not to visit him. So I did and it was removed for the second time and this time was more painful than the first.
It was unbearable for me as at then. I made a post about it which an imposter used to create account on hive blog and i have pasted the pictures below

Did you experience any medical trauma in your childhood?Could you share it with us?
---
Yes, I experienced a medical trauma during my childhood. I want to begin by sharing a picture of the scar on my elbow
You can see how big the scar is. This happened during my elementary school days. It happened that I had a wound which till today,I can't describe how it happened. But as a child then, I didn't tell my parents. I ignored it thinking that it will go on its own. Little did I know that it was going to deal with me.
After so.e days, the wound looked as if it was healed but no, it was gathering momentum. Soon, the whole area around the elbow joint became reddish and burst open. And it smelled a lot that no one comes close to me. Only my mother took care of me. I couldn't even sleep in the nights unless I was given sleeping pills.
I was taken to several places both authodox and unauthodox for treatment. All to no avail. It kept eating deep and deep into the bones. At a time, it seemed that the only option was to amputate the arm. It wasn't funny at all. I already accepted my faith and they were planning to do it.
To worsen the situation, a woman in my hometown came around and said that the wound refused to go because the evil spirit is attacking me. I was very scared. She then suggested that I be given a mark on my face so that they will not recognize me. It sounded good to everyone then in the family and I brought a new razor blade. The day came and I gave her my face to give me a mark. That is how I came to have mark on my face. Remember that at that age, the mark itself will be very painful because marks of that type are usually given at a very tender age. Just take a look at the mark on my face now in the picture below
you can see the black mark there on my face
That mark is given on both sides. Still, the wound refused to go. Imagine the trauma I went through. It continued that way until we were finally able to visit Nmeregini Hospital at Ebem Ohafia in Bender Local Government Area in Abia State.
I can't even say if the hospital is still in existence or not. But at this hospital, the doctor said that he can treat it without amputating the hand. You can imagine the joy and hope that I had then. He began the treatment and I and my mother spent more than 3 months there before the hand was healed. How glad I was and I am now that I am using both hands of mine. In deed, the Almighty stepped in to rescue this hand of mine. The experience was really traumatic. This and many other life's challenges have made my mind strong to whatever challenges I might face today. I developed tick skins to challenges and I face them squarely with God's help. I can't wait for the fulfilment of Isaiah 33:24 when no one will have to say :I am sick.
Have you experienced an accident or illness considered serious? What teaching did this experience leave you?
---
The experience I just told above is the only one I could remember that was that serious. I have not had any accident only when an exhaust pipe hurt me as a result of a bike accident but it wasn't that serious.
The experiences I told above taught me great lessons and they are
Do not neglect your body even for a moment
Always let your mom or dad or anyone around you know what you are passing through no matter how little
Visit the doctor for checkups
Apply whatever suggestions that are given you by the medical practitioners.
Visit qualified and licensed medical practitioners and do not believe those who are not experienced or licensed
I have been able to do justice to all the points raised by this contest and I have also shared my experiences.
I have been reminded of my past medical experiences and I will also be more careful in life.
I therefore invite @okere-blessing @eliany and @goodybest to take part in this content. In case you missed the contest post, here is the link to it
Thanks to you all for reading through. Now that you know of my medical experience, what about yours? I am ready to read them now.

Health is wealth, what a good proverb dear friend.
Health is our most precious asset, sometimes we have a hard time understanding it.
Cutting instruments also scare me, they are very sharp.
It is good that you are not afraid of medical specialists, they are here to help us to be well.
What an uncomfortable situation the operation in your eye is, it's like a red carnocidad that was growing, it's good that they removed it although it hurt a lot, I hope it doesn't grow again and that your sight has been very good.
What a strong story you tell, they cut your face, that's horrible, how can that help you improve?
I hope you are in good health right now, dear friend.
Our health should be treasured. We can achieve anything if we are healthy, else,we can only hope to be strong if we are not and we can't be able to achieve anything. I am glad you understand that our health is our greatest asset.
They scare me a lot. Am glad that I now have a partner, haha.
Doctors should be our confident. They are our friends we ho always help us to remain healthy.
This believe we're common then in Africa and we thought them to be true not knowing they were not. I regret falling victim to them but am grateful that the solution didn't even come from there.
Yes yes my friend, I am healthy now. Thanks for this amazing review and comment. You are very detailed to pick the points one after the other. Thank you so much. You have made my night and day now. I really appreciate. Please remain in good health

Yes, I agree with you. We need to take really good care of our health. If it fails, we can't do any other thing at all. Thanks for your nice comment
Very sad to hear from, you are right that it is not doctors we fear but what they do to us,
The eye pain you are experiencing is very painful, my grandmother also experienced the same thing as you, and I often accompany her for treatment,
I hope you are always healthy my dear friend,
️
Thanks a lot for your nice comment. Yes, doctors are our friends, only their sharp objects that scare me.
Sad to know that your grandma went through same experience. I can imagine what she went through.

Thanks a lot dear. I am glad you learned so fast. The pain is over now. I appreciate
Oh wow! I cannot believe it that the woman marked your face to get rid of an evil spirit. On the other hand, Africa will never surprise us, or will it? The beauty of living in Africa.
I am so glad that your eyes is healing.
Reading about it brought back so many memories... It seems like the other day.
Listen! It's true, listen to your doctor and listen to your body.
Look after yourself my friend! 🎕
You can imagine what I went through believing that I will be fine then.
Yes, my eye is really healing and thank you for always following up on me then. It was so caring of you. You acted as a mother to me. I can only say :thank you while the Almighty rewards you immensely
Yes, it is good to really listen. You got the point .
Let's really look after ourselves. Please do the same.
I appreciate your detailed comment
BFF for... ever! 🎕
Hola @ngoenyi. Que fuerte experiencia pasaste cuando era una niña, el pesar que uno va a perder una parte de su cuerpo debe ser muy traumatico. Gracias a Dios fue un gran milagro. Lo malo es que por hacer caso a personas tienen marcas en la cara.
It was really a traumatic experience that I had then but thank goodness that I am fine and the hand is working for me now. All thanks to Jehovah
Sometimes it take days but usually it subside in hours . I am myself afraid of getting injected but i do inject others and people say my way of injections doesn't cause pain.
You are right and that's why mother's are so affectionate and lovee in turn by kids. only a mother can bear that much of pain caused during labour .
Good to hear that you were operated by an INDIAN doctor. I got the condition for which you were operated and yes the recurrence is possible there and that's reason for second operation.
Good luck .
As a doctor, you shouldn't be afraid of being injected because you don't look at our painful state when you push the needle in. haha! Well, as humans, we all feel pain. I also heard that some hands are not painful. Am glad to hear that yours are not. That's good. I wish you can inject me someday. Lols
I agree with you. Mother's deserve all the love and affection from all. I am glad you have such feelings. You will really make a good husband 🤦
What could cause the reoccurrence?
My eye is not yet 100% ok but I do everything with it. The doctor really did great job on it. I still communicate with him for further directions and possible prescriptions.
You doctors deserve all the love and affections too. Your importance can never be overemphasized. I am glad we have you all that understands life and help us to manage our health. Thanks a lot my friend. I really appreciate the time you took to pen down this wonderful comment. My kind regards to everyone over there
God, Ma'am @ngoenyi, that must have been horrible for you to deal with, cutting your face. Simetimes, I wonder what is actually going through some persons mind when they make ridiculous statement without regards to the person's life.
How are your eyes? Hope you will not have to have another surgery?
