"Romanticizing Obesity" 🤔😮💨
Hello beautiful Steemians in the @colombiaoriginal community, hope you are all well. Here is my write-up for this contest.
1- Do you think society is currently romanticizing obesity, or is it learning to accept itself more? Where do you think the balance lies? |
|---|
I think the society is currently learning to accept itself more by promoting self-love and good health, although some individuals in the society do not want to adapt to the culture. The balance lies in seeking ways in which we can promote a healthy habit and focusing on our overall well-being.
2 - Do you think that laziness or lack of commitment is sometimes romanticized in the name of self-love? |
|---|
Yes, I know that laziness and lack of commitment can set in all in the name of self-love, but the truth is that self-love cannot be accredited to this; true self-love involves taking care of oneself and giving yourself the best healthy routine you can give, not by being undisciplined.
3 - What do you think is the most common excuse that prevents many people from losing weight? (specifically body fat percentage) |
|---|
The most common excuses that people give to prevent losing weight are;
"My mother is fat and beautiful, so therefore there is nothing wrong with being fat; it is a normal thing in my family, so I won't bother to exercise myself. Nothing will change if I do so." (Genetics)
"I will start the exercise tomorrow" (procrastination)
4- Have you ever felt criticized or judged for your body, either for being overweight or for trying to change it? |
|---|
Yes, I was criticized and judged for being overweight some years ago, even by those closest to me, but external opinions of others didn't matter to me; what really mattered to me was how to achieve my personal health growth and improvement.
5 - Do you think "FATPHOBIA" exists today? What does that mean to you? |
|---|
Yes, it does exist, and to my understanding, "fatphobia" means fear of being fat or obese; in other words, it means fear caused by discrimination from people who are against obesity.
6- Do you think self-love includes taking care of your physical and mental health, or is it just a matter of accepting yourself as you are? |
|---|
Self-love implies both self-acceptance and physical and mental care; this gives balance to our overall well-being and boast ourselves confidence.
7- Have you ever felt that extreme diets or the "fitness" culture can also be harmful? Why? |
|---|
Yes, I feel that way sometimes because it is said that "too much of everything is a disease." Excess diet and fitness are very harmful to health because they can cause health complications and system dysfunction; therefore, diet and fitness should be done moderately.
Obesity should be addressed with both empathy and firmness; people with obesity should be given medical and supportive care without any judgement or criticism from medical personnel.
9- Do you think genetics is a valid excuse for not trying to improve your habits? |
|---|
Genetics is not an excuse, although it can be a factor; in fact, that mindset must be aborted in the society. Anyone can improve their habit when they set their mind to do so.
10- What would you say to someone who says, “I’m fine like this; I don’t need to change,” even though their health is not good and they suffer from obesity? |
|---|
I will respect their decisions and perspective, but I will try my best to educate them on the consequences of that decision they have made and give them more awareness on the importance of living a healthy lifestyle.

Nurse peace, you have stated good points. The world is gradually accepting itself more.
Omor, the rate of women going to gym for flat tommy ehn, an also guys going to stay fit is actually good. They now care more about their physical body.
Wishing you luck.
Thank you for your beautiful comment what you have said is true and I encourage them to do it consistently for a better result.
first of all i will like to say you are a beautiful nurse. for me i have never liked fat, but i love it because i can choose to be fat if i want and loose weight it just shows my body is normal, i remember one period when i was overweight i had to think deep what was causing it because everyone around me was like you adding weight, i bought a scale and realized i was weighty and my BMI was high even though i was almost six feet tall. i had to stop some food like bread sugar and started intermitent fast i dint even need to go to the gym. i prepare to have muscles than just raw fats.
Thank you for your comments and compliments. Being fat or slim is a very normal nature of the body but when your fat is excessive or when you become more thinner than you were there is a problem and I liked how you were sharp to notice and how your sorted for a solution immediately before it became worse, kudos to your intelligence.
Thanks nurse peace 😃I totally agree with you, this days i check my weight regularly.
That's good, you are welcome
