I'm feeling really down today.
Assalamu Alaikum,
Dear friends, how is everyone? I hope you are all doing well. I, however, am not doing well; I am facing a very difficult time today. Nothing but bad news is pouring in from all directions. I truly cannot comprehend what I am going through, nor do I understand if Allah is testing me.
There are days when the heart feels heavy right from the morning. Looking around, one wonders why so much bad news comes knocking at life's door all at once. Today is one such day for me. My mood has been low since morning. My health hasn't been great lately either, so I was already feeling weak; on top of that, hearing one piece of distressing news after another makes my chest feel even heavier. I cannot seem to keep myself composed, no matter how much I try.
Today, I was deeply pained by news concerning some small children. There were eight beautiful little ones—children filled with so much hope, affection, and love. Yet, today, those innocent little lives were devoured by dogs. My heart shattered the moment I heard the news. Such tiny lives—creatures that understand nothing and haven't even learned to recognize the world properly—the thought of their tragic end brings tears to my eyes.
It feels as though—whether it is a human or an innocent animal—the pain of losing a life is never insignificant.
Amidst all this, another piece of news brought my heart to a complete standstill.
My cousin has a baby who is only three months old. At such a tender age, their entire world consists of their mother's embrace, their father's lap, and the love of their family. A tumor has been detected in that tiny infant's eye. The doctors say surgery is required. A baby of only three months!
This thought keeps spinning in my mind over and over again.
How will such a tiny baby undergo surgery? Will the baby suffer? Will the operation go smoothly? Will everything turn out well? A thousand such questions are crowding my mind. What hurts the most is thinking about the baby's parents. Words can hardly express the anguish a parent feels upon learning of their child's illness.
Between the little one's sickness and the anxiety gripping the entire family, my mind simply refuses to find any peace today.
I am not physically well myself, which makes this overwhelming worry feel even more unbearable. I keep trying to remind myself that I must place everything in Allah's hands. We are merely human, and our capabilities are limited; yet, the Almighty’s mercy knows no bounds.
So, my only prayer today is that Allah casts a glance of mercy upon that little child. May the surgery be successful, and may the child recover quickly and return to their mother’s arms with a smile. My heart also aches for the eight innocent souls who departed from this world today.
Amidst so much distressing news, I am waiting for a piece of good news today.
Perhaps tomorrow will bring glad tidings. Perhaps that little child will recover. Perhaps smiles will return to the family's faces. This is the hope I am holding onto in my heart. Oh Allah, I can cope with the pain in my own body, but please ease the suffering of that little child. Grant success in the surgery, restore their health, and bring smiles back to their parents' faces. Ameen.
My heart is truly heavy today. Yet, I believe that no matter how deep the darkness, if Allah wills it, light follows.
