My Favourite Athlete – Not Just a Winner, But a Reminder

in Colombia-Original15 hours ago

Hello Assalamualaikum @everyone, greetings to all from @theindicators. How are you feeling today I hope all are well and I'm also good 👍 😊
Today's I wants to share my favorite childhood memories.
Sometimes I think we don’t realise the value of someone until they make the whole country pause.
The first time I seriously noticed Arshad Nadeem was not even during a live match. I was scrolling on my phone. Internet slow, as usual. Someone had shared his throw clip.
I clicked it casually.
But when that javelin left his hand… I don’t know why, I sat straight.

It wasn’t just distance. It was confidence.
I remember when I was in school, we had a sports day. I once tried javelin with a bamboo stick (not professional of course). I threw it so badly that my friends laughed for weeks. After that, I never tried again.
That’s the difference between people like me and athletes like him.
They don’t stop after one bad throw.
What makes Arshad Nadeem special for me is simple — he didn’t grow up with perfect facilities. No international-level grounds. No luxury training environment.
Still, he competed against the world.
And won.

When he stood with the Pakistan flag, I actually felt goosebumps. It wasn’t just pride. It was relief. Like finally someone proved that talent from our soil is enough.
In my own life, I struggle with consistency. Some days I feel motivated. Some days I don’t even want to open my laptop. But when I see someone like him, I feel slightly embarrassed of my excuses.
He throws a javelin 80+ meters.
I can’t even throw away my laziness sometimes.
But maybe that’s why he is my favourite athlete.
Not because he is perfect.
But because he shows what discipline looks like.
He reminds me that background is not an excuse.
And maybe one day, if I stay consistent in my small field, I can also achieve something worth remembering.
Until then, I’ll keep watching, learning, and trying.
