I understand what you mean. But perhaps these ‘excuses’ you mention are not always excuses born of convenience. Rather, they are an expression of inner convictions and attitudes. For me, I would take advantage of that. And that should be legitimate...
Si, también la convicción puede ser una razón para justificarse algunas cosas personales que, de cierta manera, pueden generar satisfacción a las personas. Sólo que, en lo personal, a veces me cuesta entender el porque alguien elige hacerse daño, pero si, hay también la posibilidad de que las personas tengan ese derecho. I can't explain it to you in concrete terms either. Perhaps the best way to put it is this: just as no one has a right to health, there is no obligation to live healthily. Not everything that could be unhealthy is harmful. Not everything that promotes good health is free of harmful effects. Each person must decide for themselves every day what they do, what it brings them and how much it might harm them. This assessment can only be made on an individual basis.
