Canyon Tree Frog

Amphibians aren't that plentiful in arid Arizona but during the "rainy" season it is possible to come across a few if you're lucky and observant.
While prospecting at Lynx Creek in the Prescott National Forest I spotted a little Canyon Tree Frog (Dryophytes arenicolor) hopping across one of the large rock piles near the creek

These tiny frogs (this one was the size of the end of my thumb) are normally nocturnal but this one was probably flushed from its hiding spot when we were moving rocks.
It's mottled coloration helps it blend into the rocky environment

but I decided to gently relocated the little fellow to the thick wet vegetation next to the creek.

Hopefully there will be some more rains to further replenish the dry forest and help the amphibians flourish.
