Trust not on your own understanding

Good evening beloved brothers and sisters out there.

Hebrew 4:10 ''For He that is entred into his rest, he also had ceased from his own.

One of the candid problems with Christians is that most of us would naturally like to take care of ourselves and handle the problems we encounter each day. It somehow is not really a bad thing to do though but our God has different plans for His people. We must daily commit our lives, where we go and what we need into Gods hands.

David succeeded as a king because he had the habit of consulting God or enquring of Him before he took a decision. This gave him an advantage over his enemies. He had peace of mind and victory where others failed. And if I must point out here, most Christians fail in this aspect because they do not give God a part/place in their lives.

Moreso, David never relied on men's wisdom or personal assumptions. He depended on God's guidance and this saved his neck on several ocassions. In the book of 2 Samuel 23:, when David heard that the Philistines were molesting Keliah, he consulted the Lord not once but twice, asking if he should fight the Philisdtine and seize their cattle.

Without mincing word, I must say that I respect Dadid for taking that singular act. I as a person wouldn't have done like he did. I would have perhaps followed my human insinct and self glorification. Any man including my humble self would have assumed that Keliah was save for David to dwell. However, when Dadid consulted God, he was told that the people of Keliah would betray him. ON the confirmation of this, David had to flee.

Dearly beloved, we must learn this great lesson from David to acknowledge God in all our ways. When ripe opportunities come our ways, we must double check rather than jump on them. We must make sure that we are following God's desires and direction and not just on our own.

So I would like to end this piece with this rhetorical question: What have you decided to do today? Have you prayed about it?

Prayer

Lord I rely on you totally; guide me in all my ways in Jesus name, amen.
