Cocoa harvesting looks good in selling but hard work is involved

At first, I thought it was lovely being so slow, but after a while getting a lot of body movement is going to make me feel tired and hurt my back.I keep bending down, and standing up again and I will not get a break unless I take one. It's a good thing I'm not in Cocoa harvesting workforce or laborer, I don't think I'll survive that work.

The rocks are another reason I don’t like the work either. That is what you get when you work too fast, then you get complaints and then you get mad at each other. I remember one day when the sun was really out scorching and there was barely any clouds in the sky. There was dry ground as far as you could see, and at any minute it could crack open. So we are generating a big heap. I enjoy doing this because you are now starting to see the payoff.

I know how big a pile is, but you are only going to have a whole lot more work. And I don’t think anybody else is going to want to do this either. I really don't like the part of picking up all the beans that have fallen over and putting them back into the pile. Those little rocks are so annoying when you step on them with the sweat running down your face and you have to blink constantly because dust enters your eyes, but you have to keep your hand moving. When I stepped on a bean, I could tell it was really bothering me because I felt like I just ruined all of the work I had just done for hours.

It was just a time spent doing farm work and I really appreciate farmers and those who work on the land even more than ever. It's no easy work. We say Ghana is second largest cocoa producers, that probably mean second place for people that work their butt off to produce those Cocoas.
