INTRODUCTION

Plants form an important aspects of human life. I would say that there is no life without plants and there are no plants without life. Our lives and survival highly depends on plants.

Nature has made the soil so fertile that every plant grows on it. This is so because the soil made of several chemicals that promotes and enhances plants growth on it.

What Is Plant?
A plant could be regarded as any fruit, flower, roots, stem, or leaf bearing organisms that are traceable to the plantae, which produce its own food through the attraction of sunlight, air and water. Plants by their very nature, are green in color. This green color is made possible by making use of the chlorophyll through a process known as photosynthesis.

Some plants are fixed while others make movement by a of crawling. For those of them that moves, they fix their roots whether soft or hard. on the ground to give them directions on the ground. Some examples of plants that climbs or crawls include:

• Cucumbers
• Fluted Pumpkin
• Winged beans
• Calabash
• Green beans
• Gnetum africanum(okazi) etc.

Types of Plants

There are various types or species of plants. They be classified based on some conditions that they fulfill. Below are some of them:

• Trees
• Shrubs
• Herbs
  These are classified based on the size of the plant. Plants are further classified based on what they used for. Examples include:
• Ornaments plants
• cash crops or plants
• Medicinal plants
• Food crops or plants etc.

Plants could further be classified based on how long they could live. These are:

• Annual plants
• Biennial plants and
• perennial plants

IMPORTANCE OF PLANTS

Plants are important to us in several ways. It could also be classified based how important or how beneficial the plants are. These are as follows:

• Culture and social importance
  Plants are useful while performing cultural festivities. We also use them to beautify our homes and streets.

• Economic importance
  Plants serves as an income generator for farmers. They are used as raw materials in industries and by them, millions of people get employed.

• Environmental importance
  Plants help in controlling the climate as well as reducing air pollution. Plants also help in controlling erosion.

• Provides health and nutritional benefits
  Herbal medicine practitioners provide health remedies using plants. Plants carries a lot of vitamins and minerals that contributes in nourishing our body.

CONCLUSION

We can not undermine the importance or benefits of plants to us as humans. When plants are properly cultivated, it provides us some streams of income, nutritions for good health, and protect our environment. It also go a long way to serve as a source of food for us, and cure for our different ailments

With these benefits, it worths it more to have more plants in our environment.
