APICULTURE or Beekeeping is the art and science of maintaining colonies of honey bees for honey, pollen, beeswax, and other bee produce. Apiculture is a very essential agricultural activity that supports pollination of crops and also a source of livelihood for beekeepers.

Apiculture acts in different aspect based on goals, methods, or scales of operation. These aspects includes:

- Commercial apiculture:

This type of apiculture is large-scale operations which focuses on honey production, queen breeding, or pollination services.

- Traditional and modern apiculture:

The activities here can range from traditional top bar hives to modern hives which has a movable frame.

- Hobby apiculture:

in this type of apiculture, Small-scale beekeeping is often done for one personal learning, interest, and small-scale honey production.

•Challenges encountered in Apiculture and solutions to those problems:

• pest and diseases:

Problem: Diseases like American foulbrood or Varroa mites can affect the bee hives.
Solutions: integrated pest management, watching of the bee hive, and proper treatments should be done.

• Environmental challenges:

Problem: challenges like lack of extreme weather or forage can affect the bees.
Solutions: choice of site to set the hive locations should be carefully decided and provision of supplemental feeding should be done when needed.

• Colony losses:

Problems: Factors like stress, pesticides, or queen issues can be of great challenge.
Solutions: proper maintenance of the bee hive, minimizing things that stress the bees, and monitoring the whole colony health.
