*Importance of Irrigation and its Role in Modern Agricultural System*

Agriculture is a basic need of human life.Because our food mostly depends on farming.Land seeds fertilizers and water play the most important roles to get good yield. Water plays a fundamental role in all these things. The process of providing adequate amount of water to crops is called irrigation. If crops do not get water on time. Their growth is affected and there is a significant decrease in production.Pakistan is an agricultural country.And millions of people are associated with agriculture here.

The canal system in our country is one of the largest irrigation systems in the world. Crops are irrigated through rivers canals tube wells and rainwater. Since many areas in Pakistan are dry and hot. The importance of irrigation increases further.In ancient times farmers relied only on rainwater.But with time modern irrigation methods were introduced. Today different types of irrigation systems are used. Including canal irrigation, sprinkler irrigation and drip irrigation.

Canal irrigation is the most widely used method in Pakistan. In this canals are dug from rivers and water is delivered to the fields through them. This method is very useful for large agricultural areas.But sometimes it also causes water wastage.Sprinkler irrigation is a modern method in which water is sprayed on crops like rain. This method is especially useful for areas where water is less available. It saves water and does not damage the land.

Drip irrigation is one of the most modern systems. In this water is delivered directly to the roots of plants through pipes. In this method water is wasted very little.And the crops continue to receive adequate moisture. Nowadays drip irrigation is being given great importance due to water scarcity around the world.Irrigation is not only necessary for the growth of crops. But it also helps in maintaining the fertility of the soil. With the right amount of water plants remain healthy. Their color improves and production increases.

Crops like wheat rice cotton sugarcane and vegetables cannot produce good yields without regular irrigation.If irrigation is not done properly. Its negative effects can also come to the fore. Giving too much water can cause weeds in the soil while less water dries out the crops. That is why farmers should water according to the needs of the crop.Nowadays the world is facing a serious problem like water scarcity. According to experts saving water will be very important in the future.For this purpose adopting modern irrigation systems is the need of the hour.

Farmers should use water wisely instead of wasting it. So that water is safe for future generations.The government should also educate farmers about modern irrigation methods. And introduce projects that can save water. Apart from this training of farmers is also necessary.So that they can use new technology in a better way.In the end it would be right to say that.

Irrigation is the basis of the success of agriculture. If water is provided to crops in a timely and adequate quantity not only does production increase. But the country's economy is also strengthened. In the modern era water conservation and effective irrigation are the responsibility of every farmer.
