If you're someone who's interested in poultry farming and owning your own agricultural business, it's a beautiful dream and to me, it's very stable business if you can do it right. But how much can we make from it.

It differs depending on location and since I'm in Ghana I'll use Ghana as an example.

So the question is how much would 50 layers make you monthly in Ghana. Assuming you have about 350 birds and 50 are at their point of lay, you would probably collect around 45 eggs daily.

Since you will have daily crates of eggs and assuming one crate has 30 eggs, if you sell 1 crate for 50 cedis, your daily revenue would be around 75 cedis. In 1 month, this will be about 2,250 Ghana cedis.

For the feed, you would spend around 350 cedis for 150 kg bag. The birds would eat about 5.5 kg to 6 kg daily, which means for a month, you would need about 3 and half bags which means you would spend roughly 1,225 Ghana cedis in feed per month.

From the revenue, you would substract the feed which would be 2,250 cedis minus 1,225 cedis which gives you a gross margin of about 1,000 cedis. Assuming there are no water costs and after electricity and other small expenses, you will have a profit of around 700 to 1,000 cedis monthly from the 50 birds.

Like I said from the very beginning, starting a poultry farming business is profitable, but only if you manage your production and feed properly. With steady feed and production, easy profits will follow. You can reinvest profits back into the business as your other birds reach their point of lay. It's only a matter of time and scaling and you'll make good money.

It's clear now that owning a poultry is not just about feeding the chickens. It's requires dedication, consistency and good handling. A very good guide for anyone who wants to kick off with a poultry business. Thanks for sharing.

Yes, it absolutely does and I'm happy to have shared. I'll just have to say that it's for Ghana, I may not be aware of the rates and earning potential in other countries but it is the same logic so as long as there's dedication it's going to be lucrative

Maybe the same strategy can be applied in other countries. Might still work. In all, thanks for this educative piece.

I believe it will work

🎉 Congratulations!
