Our medicine cabinet is nature's herbs

As a Ghanaian, you almost have no choice but to eventually drink some herbal medicine for a disease. The herbal hospitals and pharmacies are more popular in Ghana than the regular ones where you get lab-developed medicine.

I offered science in high school and branched into business in college, so I know a few things about biology and pharmacy. The effectiveness of the lab-manufactured drugs or pills cannot be denied, but the side effects are also as obvious. Especially if you'll be on the medication for a long time. So most of us who believe a lot in traditional methods simply because it's from mother nature herself are very skeptical about pills.

During the COVID-19 period back in 2020, people didn't want the vaccines and, not to sound racist, (just telling you what happened) some said it's a plan from the white men to kill more of us and it'll backfire on them, so they refused to be vaccinated.

I did not get vaccinated because I didn't even want to go out in the first place, I was very anxious.

If we're to rely entirely on natural herbs as remedies or cures, I have a dilemma. It's either it's true that herbs can't cure every disease or we still don't know which herb can cure which disease. I think this is where science and the world stand on that dilemma. We don't know yet. You could make the argument that it's not possible to have all herbs for all specific diseases, but the question is how do you know it's true. We're yet to discover everything else on our tiny little planet. What if there's a plant at the deepest part of the ocean that can cure a particular disease if applied the right way, how do you know that's not true?

Interestingly, many of the high-tech medicines we see today originally started as plants in some backyard. The scientists had to look at the behavioral patterns of those plants to invent their drugs, they didn't make the drugs out of nothing. So in a way, nature is the original pharmacist.
