In a certain village that is surrounded by dry Hills and is located in the northern part of Nigeria, there lived a donkey named Tom1. The back of the donkey was bent, its ears were torn at the edge, and a small Bell was old, older than most of the children in the village, and it had only one means: to remind the villagers that Tom was still working for the growth of the village.

The donkey had not always been old. Some years back, when the village roads were rough, and carts were heavy, Tom the donkey was strong and vibrant. He carried sacks of pots of water, grain, firewood, and sometimes got tired children who laughed as they clung to silence.

After some years the villagers started buying motorbikes. Trucks replaced carts. Stronger animals were sold. Tom was moved to the back of the yard, given lighter loads, since he is not as strong as before.

Since Tom isn't as strong as before and the villagers have started buying trucks and motorbikes, they have started distancing themselves from Tom, and he usually feels bad because the love they had for him has faded, as no one cares about him.

Since everyone, including the owner of Tom, no longer cared about Tom as they used to, Tom ran out of the village to a nearby village and found someone who took him to her house and started taking good care of him. After a week, when Tom took the woman with her luggage to his former village, no one could identify him.
