After the chickens lay the eggs in the farm
The Work on The Farm is not an easy one
Trying to carry eggs from the hen to refrigerator takes a lot of effort. I remember doing that work years ago before I went to the university, it was no joke. When people buy eggs, they are not really thinking about the farm. The length of time between the farm and the grocery store determines whether the eggs will stay fresh or become spoiled. And the outcome is on the farmer or business person selling the eggs.
Workers gather the eggs twice each day or even more than twice, and if an egg remains in the nesting area too long, it may be cracked or infected with germs so timing for these things is so important. If you consider all that is required to do will in agriculture or animal farming, I won't over exaggerate it but there's a reason so many avoid that work.
The majority of the hens lay their eggs in the morning time, so this is when workers will begin to gather them. The workers need to act quickly, but must also take care when they're gathering the eggs because you know eggs, they're more fragile than glass.
My school Games
Speaking of fragility it reminded of school days competition. We had an egg put on a spoon and who ever can walk fast enough without letting it fall and get to the finish line is the winner. That should teach you fragility of an egg more than anything.
Baskets used for gathering the eggs have wire openings to allow airflow through the basket and to prevent the eggs from becoming wet or crushed. Workers have to be checking each individual egg for cracks. If an egg has a cracked shell, germs can infiltrate the egg easier, and making the whole thing a waste and a cost.
Washing the Egg
Did you know there's a proper way to wash an egg?
Most people will attempt to use water to clean the egg. This is a big mistake. Eggs have a coating which is called bloom, which protects the eggshell by closing off the tiny pores on the eggshell. Rubbing the dried dirt off the egg with sandpaper protects the bloom but washing the egg will remove the bloom. If you have to wash your eggs, the water must be hotter than the egg is otherwise the cold water will draw germs into the egg.
The last phase of egg preparation is storage. When you're storing the eggs, keep the temperature of the refrigerator at around 4 degrees Celsius and place the eggs upside down or let me say tip down. The eggs will remain fresh longer since the yolk will be in the center of the egg.
Your job may be simple but you need to adhere to the right rule and things to avoid doing.
