It has taken us decades to realize that the most obvious method of pest management, which always has something to do with using strong chemicals on crops, does not actually help us. On the contrary, that attitude we have had towards agriculture is what leads to increased resistance of the pests. Just like how we adapt to situations, they can too.

And it creates this situation where you the farmer have to now use even stronger pesticides and that's just more chemicals that won't help both your soil and your crops.

That's why I am convinced that now we have reached the limit of this ineffective and really dangerous practice and should be looking at everyway to abandon it.

Like what I just said, the development of organic farming is in our ability to shift away from such practices, we can't be excessively spraying the crops all the time.

There are alternative methods of pest management that have already been introduced. A good one is introducing the biological enemies of pests or using plant based substances. For now I see that as the only way to get rid of the problematic insects without killing the useful ones that contribute to the health of plants.

Climate change and all the problems with it are real and it requires changes in the traditional agricultural calendar according to which pests emerge. Let me give a good example of this. Because of the rising temperature, some insects emerge much earlier than usual, so how do you expect to follow a rigid schedule. By the time you notice it might have been too late. The wise thing to do is to adapt to these changing conditions.

Our attempt to make a full transition to organic farming will need skme serious efforts and costs from all farmers because it's easy to just get the chemical although that in itself is also getting expensive but there's more work with the organic methods.

There are many who claim that this method is too expensive or too slow to be applied to large farms, but I would like to note that in the long run, soil degradation and environmental pollution will take enormous investments from you to solve so that sort of makes that situation more costly to you. It's a buy now pay later kind of concept.

Also understand that if you have an idea of exterminating pests completely, that is extremely dangerous and unrealistic because it contradicts the principles of biological balance in ecosystems. So the only right thing to do is to reduce their population to an acceptable or manageable level. This is possible if we combine intelligent observations with natural remedies for pest extermination.
