At the edge of a wide river lived a small grey bird named Luna. She was not among the brightest or strong birds known and her wings were not so strong to fly. Even while other birds fly high the sky, Luna fly just within her reach close to the ground.

Every morning, she watched the sky as it moves and other birds fly across the wind, she wished she could join them and let the wind lift her and carry her far beyond the river. But each time she gives it a try, she would fall, loose balance and quietly return to her base.

“Maybe, I am not meant to fly far,” she once told herself.

On a faithful day, a strong storm came up, turning the sky dark and the wind blew through the trees. All the birds in the air kept struggling to be steady, but with that pressure, it blew most of them away and others to another distance.

Luna on the other hand, hid herself away from the wind but watched closely. She noticed something about the smaller birds, they were being pushed close to the river as they couldn't control their flight.

Without so much thinking, Luna stepped out. The wind was still heavy, but she spread her wings and pushed further, even though her flight was not smooth but steady. She kept moving inbetween the rocks and the reeds, guiding herself carefully through the storm.

Immediately, she began to call out for the other birds, they heard her voice and traced it towards her direction. She began to lead them gently even though it took time. Luna led them to the riverbank where they felt safe until the storm stopped.

When the storm had stopped, the other birds came to Luna and this time they looked at her with something new; respect. “You didn't fly the highest, one of them said, but you helped us when it mattered the most”. Luna smiled.

At that point, she looked at the sky and then at her wings, but they were still imperfect, though something was now clear to her... She didn't need to fly above the sky to be recognized or matter.

From that day, Luna learnt to fly with confidence even though she still fly low. It never bothered her again as she relaxed and enjoyed the wind as much as she could.
