Create a painting inspired by the emotion “Jealousy”. Make sure your piece is 200 words.

On the wooden shelf a pair of shining blue heels sat,
bright as bright as sky.
Below them rested the old gray flats,
worn out, dusty, their edges cracked by years of putting them on.

Once, those flats shoes danced through crowded streets, walked through difficult days,
and carried their owner through silent heartbreaks.
They were once chosen first, polished with care,
and admired before every outing.

Now they sat beneath the new heels, forgotten in silence.
The blue shoes always shines proudly, while the old flat shoes stared from below,
filled with a quiet jealousy they could not hide.

Not because they wanted to become the new heels, but because they feared they no longer mattered.
Every sparkle from the blue shoes felt like a reminder that time had replaced them.

The jealousy grew stronger each day,
turning their memories bitter.
Yet deep inside, the old flat shoe still carried something the shining heels did not have:
the marks of loyalty, sacrifice, and years of companionship.

The flat shoes kept wondering if it was time to let it out of the house, maybe its services were no longer needed and then the jealousy kept knocking deep in its mind.

Present jealousy from an unusual or unexpected angle.

My poem presents jealousy from an unusual angle through abandoned shoes. The emotion is triggered by replacement and neglect.

We can see the old shoes constantly looking at the new shoes because she feels rejected, abandoned, replaced and forgotten. The flat shoes kept remembering when it was the only pair been worn everywhere, through thick and thin.

Now a new pair comes around and it less important. They were once worn to the markets, office, church, everywhere but now forgotten becomes it's new identity. When we feel abandoned because of the arrival of something, it triggers jealousy.

What triggers this emotion in your piece?

The arrival of something new prompted this emotion. The old shoes sees the love, attention and care the new shoes receives.

Every morning, the owner cleans and polishes it like it was some sort of gold, while the old shoes kept stirring and feeling unwanted. If the new shoes hadn't shown up, the old shoe would still be in its place and position. Now it feels like another pair has stolen it's position, attention and care.

Does your interpretation show jealousy as destructive, protective, or transformative?

I see it as destructive because the old shoes is filled with sadness, bitterness and resentment. Instead of accepting change, they hold on to the past while suffering in silence.

It is so destructive when jealousy is built from inside with all negative emotions to back it up. It destroys one slowly; you could start losing your mind, start isolating, start creating unrealistic images in your mind.

The old shoes kept dying in silence while the new shoes glow without noticing it.

¡Holaaa amigo!🤗

You participated in this competition very nicely. Your drawing is really beautiful. Thank you very much for mentioning me.

Saludos!
