what are macronutrients and micronutrients in plant nutrition?

These are mineral elements or nutrients required by plant in large quantities example of macro or major are; nitrogen , phosphorus , potassium , calcium , sulphur , carbon , hydrogen magnesium , oxygen.

Micronutrients or trace nutrients required by plant quantities example are magnesium ,boron ,iron copper chlorine , molybdenum , zinc.

Describe how nutrients deficiencies after crop yield.

When any of these elements is not present in sufficient amount to support plant growth , the soil is to be deficient in that element and any deviation from normal growth and crop yield is observed in the plants example;

Lack of nitrogen: in the soil cause stunted growth in plants , yellowing of leaves that is chlorosis , leaves tends to drop , poor formation of fruits and flowers.

Lack of potassium: in the soil results to weak slender of stems delayed growth, premature loss of leaves and these will affect the crops yield .

Lack of boron: in the soil causes death of tips of roots and shoots, failure of flower buds to develop ,it causes breaking of lodging. Lack of phosphorus causes slow growth stalks and delayed maturity.

Lack of molybdenum: causes mottled leaves, it leads to curly and breakdown of leaf edges. It's causes premature flowers drops.

Lack of zinc causes production of mottled or extremely small leaves, while lack of nitrogen causes wilting of entire plants.

How does nitrogen contribute to plants growth?

In the following ways;
It promotes chlorophyll: formation or deep green colour of leaves , it aids plants growth and reproduction because it is an essential contiuent of all proteins.

Increase in size of grain: in cereal or carbohydrate synthesis ,it promotes uptake of potassium and phosphorus from the soil.

It's promotes vegetative and short system growth:, excess nitrogen delays maturation and fruiting, it's necessary for the synthesis of plants hormones or enzymes and auxins.
