In the days when the animals usually gather to gist and catch cruise especially at the cool of the evening.

The Leopard had 3 best friends, the peacock, the giraffe and the Zebra. His his friends had colour skin or feathers and they always flaunted their beauty.

Back then the skin of the leopard was plain and without spots unlike how it's skin is today. The Leopard was known for his speed and strength but one thing was lacking in his life and he desired it so much. Can you guess what it was? He wanted his skin to be colourful like his friends.

Whenever he and his friends gathered to gist and catch their cruise every evening, the Peacock always shows off his colorful feathers for all to see. The Zebra shows off his stripes, and the Giraffe is not left out because he always stands tall to display his unique neck and colours.

The Leopard always felt ordinary among his friends each time they gathered. One day, he decided to find the solution to his problem by visiting the wise Tortoise. Tortoise was known for his wise counsel.

"Wise Tortoise," Leopard said, "Among my friends I am the only one without a special design on my skin". I need to have some designs so I can stop feeling ordinary.

Wise Tortoise smiled and replied, "A special design is earned, not given. Do you know what they did to have those special designs? If you must have a special design on your skin you must earn it, I will tell you what to do.

The wise Tortoise said "Go into the forest and perform acts of kindness". Then return to me."

The Leopard not knowing exactly what the tortoise meant just obeyed and left. He went into the forest, helping animals, He helped a lost small antelope find its mother. He even helped to carry water to thirsty animals during the dry season. He protected smaller creatures from danger and he was very cheerful rendering those kindness.

After few Months , the Leopard returned to wise Tortoise.
"I have done as you asked," he said.
The wise Tortoise nodded and told him that he did well and has earned a special design.

The tortoise went inside his house, dipped a brush into a pot of black paint made from forest berries. And with gentle touches, he placed spots all over Leopard's golden coat.

"Each spot," said Tortoise, "represents a good deed you have done. Let them remind you that true beauty comes from a good heart." The Leopard left happily. It was truly his happiest day.

The animals admired Leopard's new appearance each time he moved around but the Leopard had learned something even more valuable. He discovered that kindness was more important than beauty.

From that day on, the leopard proudly wore his spotted skin, and his markings became a symbol of the good deeds that leave a lasting mark on the world. He no longer felt ordinary among his friends. He joins them now to display his beautiful skin.

Moral lesson

• Do not want the results of others without knowing their sacrifices and efforts.

• True beauty is not found in appearance but in kindness, character, and the good we do for others.
