Food as medicine

There are just so many influences that affect personal health, especially with our daily food choices and dietary habits. The Chronic diseases that have become too common like diabetes, cardiovascular disease or high blood pressure can actually be treated and even prevented with proper nutrition and healthy living. Funny how people start listening to doctor's advice on what to eat mostly after they've been diagnosed with a disease. Only if they followed a healthy eating diet before that time.

The increasing rate at which we hear of people with heart disease, diabetes, and hypertension and the fact that they're attributed to many deaths and contibutes to the many financial burdens of healthcare to families is making the world a sad place.

The good thing is we have most of the health and food organizations around the world promoting healthy diets that are low in fats and processed foods with an emphasis on more plant based options for optimal health and preventing disease.

Many people do not understand the full extent of health and nutrition of the food. Although we have many people that know healthy food choices and they practice it which in some way makes them healthy, a lot of them do not understand the underlying mechanics or the health benefits.

As they say, food is medicine, and in some ways this is true. Our food choices can reduce the health impact of diseases, or even eliminate certain diseases. By using food as medicine, we can still continue to use medicine, but using food as medicine is wiser because prevention is better than cure.

The health benefits of nature's food is too much and we just need to be willing to use our eyes to see, our mind to think and our mouth to taste the healthy choices and create a lifestyle with it.
